We are very excited to announce that Michael joined us in December as a new graduate trainee, having graduated with a 2:1 in BSc Business Management from the University of Southampton in 2023.
His degree covered a wide overview of running and managing a business. He particularly enjoyed studying the modules relating to sustainability, including designing and pitching a sustainable-focused clothing platform.
Many of these modules focused on sustainable and renewable business, especially renewable energy and solar innovations such as the Tesla Powerwall Battery Systems that we install at Bright Spark. In preparing his dissertation, Michael focused on the effect that corporate culture has on the creativity and innovation of employees within an electrical innovations firm based in the South-West. He says there were many similarities to Bright Spark – in a good way!
Michael is based in our Arundel Office. He says “I’m really excited to kickstart my career within the renewable energy industry, with Bright Spark providing me with a great opportunity to establish myself and to grow within this industry. My day-to-day life at Bright Spark can be quite varied as a Graduate Trainee, with my training allowing me to see a range of different areas of the business, which is perfect for a business management graduate such as myself.”
Michael is primarily involved with sales and looking after our clients, which includes liaising on site visits, designing solar arrays and battery storage systems and tendering. He has also been providing input on the setting up and testing of our new Customer Relationship Management software that will be rolled out shortly; he has enjoyed seeing how this software will benefit Bright Spark when it goes live.
Michael went on to say “I’m looking forward to being able to begin to apply some of the things I’ve learnt during my studies within a real-world business sense. I’m also keen to learn as much as I can about the renewable energy industry and build up my knowledge particularly on the technical side of things, whilst also learning about the potential future developments/opportunities for this industry and for Bright Spark. I’d like to continue to build up my experience in sales, particularly by meeting more clients and getting out on more site visits, but I’m also very keen to get more involved in the business development side of things as well.”
