Why service

Why service your system?

Regular servicing helps maximise energy generation, extend equipment life and identify potential issues before they become costly repairs.

Maximise generation

Soiling, shading changes, string faults and inverter derating quietly erode output. A service finds what monitoring alone will not.

Extend equipment life

Catching loose terminals, water ingress and mounting wear early keeps components working for the full design life of the system.

Catch faults before they cost

A failing connection found at a service is a repair. Found later, it is a replacement — and lost generation in between.

Stay safe and compliant

Documented inspection keeps your installation aligned with current guidance and supports warranty and insurance requirements.

Thermal inspections are particularly valuable for commercial and public sector installations.

Fire safety

Fire safety by design.

Safety is at the heart of every renewable energy system we design, install and maintain.

Our engineers design, inspect and maintain systems in accordance with current industry guidance, helping to protect people, property and emergency responders. Rather than treating fire safety as an afterthought, we consider it from the earliest stages of every project, incorporating best-practice design, safe cable routing, emergency isolation and appropriate shutdown technology where required.

We also specialise in retrofitting fire safety upgrades to existing solar PV systems. Whether your installation was completed several years ago or by another installer, we can assess its compliance with current recommendations and advise on improvements such as firefighter gateways, rapid shutdown systems, enhanced labelling, emergency isolation and other safety upgrades to help meet the latest industry guidance, including RC62 and RC67 where applicable.

Whether you’re installing a new renewable energy system or looking to improve the safety of an existing one, Bright Spark Energy can help ensure your investment remains safe, compliant and future-ready.

“I was very impressed with this company from start to finish. Their quotation and accompanying project plan was extremely comprehensive, and they answered any questions I had immediately. My panels and battery system (Sigenergy) took two days to fit, and the guys were all very friendly, worked extremely hard and long hours, and left everything very neat and tidy, a real quality installation. All the post installation documentation was provided quickly as promised, they handled all the liaison with the network provider, and helped set up the app. The system is working really well and I would recommend this company wholeheartedly.”

FAQs

Frequently asked questions.

How often should my system be serviced?

We recommend an annual service for most installations. Commercial and public sector sites, and anything with battery storage, benefit from a documented annual service plus periodic thermal imaging.

Can you service a system another company installed?

Yes. Our engineers work on installations from most leading manufacturers, whoever fitted them. A first service typically includes a fuller assessment so we understand what you have.

What is a fire safety survey and do I need one?

It is an inspection of the design, cable routing, isolation, labelling, shutdown provisions and emergency access on your installation, benchmarked against current guidance including RC62 and RC67. Older systems, and any system where you are unsure what was installed, benefit most.

What are RC62 and RC67?

They are Fire Protection Association guidance documents setting out best practice for the safe design and maintenance of rooftop solar PV. We design new installations with these principles in mind and assess existing ones against them.

What is thermal imaging for?

A thermal camera reveals heat that should not be there — hot connections, loose terminals, failing modules and components on their way out — so they can be fixed before they cause a fault or a fire risk. It is particularly valuable on commercial and public sector installations.

Do you offer maintenance contracts?

Yes. For commercial and public sector clients we provide planned preventative maintenance covering annual servicing, thermal imaging, remote monitoring, fire safety inspections, performance reporting and reactive call-outs.

Will servicing affect my warranty?

Regular documented servicing generally supports warranty and insurance requirements rather than affecting them. We provide a detailed service report each visit so you have the evidence on file.
